Our treatments and services

Manual therapy

Hands on techniques to the muscle, fascia, or scars to assist in reducing pain, tenderness and restrictions and helping the tissue move with the body the way it is intended to do so. It’s similar to a massage but more specific to the tissue that needs a little bit of encouragement to move within the body better. This is inclusive of all hands on interventions including soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release and more.

Dry needling

A skilled intervention that uses an acupuncture needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying trigger points, muscular, and connective tissue and reduce pain and movement impairments. It’s a treatment that can be used for skeletal muscle, fascia, and connective tissue dysfunctions, helping these tissues heal, leading to improved activity and participation.

Therapeutic exercise

Specific exercises are chosen based on your individual needs. Many times, the problem is not a “weak core” but a lack of coordination in the core leading to imbalance of weakness in some areas and tightness in others.

Neuromuscular re-education

Specialized training to assist you in your understanding of your own body and the small muscles that run the show. You can’t affect change in a muscle you don’t know exists. Neuromuscular re-education is the process by which you learn how to reconnect with your body and improve your coordination so that you can get back doing what you love.

Sympathetic nervous system (SNS) downtraining

Our SNS is our “Fight or Flight System.” When we experience high stress and anxiety, it can lead to a guarding response in our muscles and our nervous system. This leads to an inability of our body to relax which can increase pain and actually can cause incontinence and constipation. Being able to understand how your body responds to stress and manage it efficiently can help you control your symptoms instead of being controlled by your symptoms.

Patient education

At Core Strong Physical Therapy, this will be the largest component of your intervention. It is imperative that you understand what is happening, how your body is responding and what you can do independently to limit this response. You will be educated in pelvic anatomy, how diet may affect your bowel or bladder, sitting, standing, bending and lifting techniques that feel right for you, natural methods of pain and stress management, and many more topics that may arise throughout your time with Core Strong Physical Therapy.

Thriving in the 4th Trimester! Postpartum care program

Postpartum recovery can feel like a lonely island sometimes. Many parents report feeling like the time between childbirth and their follow up with their medical provider was the time when they felt most alone and unsure of what was “normal.” Some people experience pain, vaginal pressure, urine leakage or an inability to control their gas. Some wonder what return to exercise, sex and having bowel movements will look like. In this program, we will come to you during this time and help you navigate your postpartum recovery with an individualized plan tailored to your experience and goals.
