How Our Journey Began:

Dr. Allison Ingley Core Strong Physical Therapy

Dr. Allison Ingley PT, DPT (she/her/hers)

I received my B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Toledo in 2007 and earned my Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Dayton in 2010. I began training as a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist in 2011 and have since completed over 300 hours of education in pelvic floor assessment and treatment with special focus in pain, bladder dysfunction, prolapse, bowel dysfunction, pregnancy and postpartum care, myofascial release and the pelvic floor as it pertains to athletes. This training has also helped me provide elevated care to my patients with low back and hip pain.  I have also begun my journey into educating other medical professionals wishing to learn about pelvic floor assessment and treatment as a teaching assistant for the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.

I grew up in Central Ohio and was involved in multiple sports throughout my life, but focused mainly on soccer and basketball. When I was 9 yrs old I was involved in a car accident leading to a broken leg. This was my first experience as a physical therapy patient. Fortunately, this was not my only experience with physical therapy and after another broken leg and an ACL reconstruction for both knees due to basketball injuries, I fell in love with the world of physical therapy and the ability of my clinicians to help me return to the activities I loved and feel “whole” again. These experiences as a patient were my primary driver to go to school and become a physical therapist.

Less than 1 month after graduation from the University of Dayton, I birthed my first child and experienced my first bout of pelvic floor dysfunction. Upon following up with my physician I was told “this is normal after having a baby, do some Kegels.” I knew there had to be more than just “doing some Kegels” so I decided to immerse myself into this field to learn as much as I could to help more people like me. This led me down a path from which I have never looked back.

After leaving a team of fantastic clinicians in a hospital system, I decided to open my own private practice, unencumbered by insurance restrictions and executive “red tape.” This allows me the flexibility to treat people as long as necessary and with whatever means necessary to help them reach their original goals and the goals they had only ever dreamed of reaching.

I use a wide variety of treatments, including education, manual therapy, dry needling, postural training/positional awareness, exercise and more. I believe in a holistic approach through physical therapy interventions, mindfulness and nutrition and value collaboration with other industry experts to develop a highly individualized plan of care to help people reach a maximal level of success.

I believe the best physical therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the patient. It is not done to someone, but with someone. I hope to empower patients who come to Core Strong Physical Therapy to feel confident leaving my care knowing that they have the knowledge to remain healthy and active independently!

In my free time, I enjoy playing board games with my family, watching my kids play sports, practicing yoga, weight lifting, and rollerblading with my family and friends. I also love a quiet night in, although these admittedly are too few and far between!

Office Manager

I graduated with my B.S in Athletic Training from The University of Toledo in 2007. I spent the first 13 years of my career on the sidelines of high school sports, bracing spinal cord injuries, assessing concussions and splinting broken bones. I have shifted in the last few years to a hospital based outpatient clinic role where I now work with a wide array of kids. I treats athletes who have graduated from physical therapy and are not quite "game ready" as well as teach children who struggle to get enough physical activity in their day, learn how to move and play in fun ways and just how to be a kid again!

With my background in healthcare, I have a great understanding of the medical system, the integrative approach needed to make life changing improvements and the compassion required in developing a safe environment for our patients. I am very excited to be part of the CSPT family and helping you have the best experience possible!

What people are saying

“I was referred to pelvic floor physical therapy after suffering from delivery complications. I had to undergo 3 surgeries and several months on a wound vac. By the time I saw Allison I could hardly walk into my first appointment. Allison was amazing! She took the time to listen to my story and was always sympathetic to the pain I was in. During my time with her, she helped me to accomplish all my goals! Instructions and demonstrations for activities were always very detailed. If I couldn’t physically do something she would show me how to modify it, and she never made me feel embarrassed. By the time I finished my treatment with her, I could walk without pain and could sit on the floor to play with my baby (one of my goals)! With Allison’s knowledge and experience my quality of life has drastically improved. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“After having two vaginal births I was embarrassed to be struggling with bladder incontinence and urgency at such a young age. I was relieved that my doctor referred me to women’s health physical therapy. Unfortunately other companies had a one-size- fits- all approach and I was finding no relief. I started to feel hopeless until I heard about Allison. At the first appointment I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. She listened to my concerns and developed a plan based on my symptoms and concerns. Each appointment she taught me strengthening exercises, relaxation techniques, and so much more. She never made me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed of my bladder conditions. She remained very positive, and upbeat when I was convinced I would never find relief again. After a few appointments with Allison I quickly began to see improvements. To this day I am so grateful that my life does not center around bathroom breaks or pelvic pain.  Allison has changed my life and I would highly recommend her!”

“Allison Ingley provided excellent care and professional service. Every appointment she displayed genuine concern and great motivation to get down to my root health issues. I greatly appreciated her eagerness to go out of her way to explain helpful information about how my body functions and what steps need to be taken to improve. I would definitely recommend Allison to one who desires dedicated and kind health attention.”

“I found my way to Allison after seeing several doctors who either could not explain why I was in so much pain after the birth of my baby, or who could explain it, but could not help resolve the problem. I couldn’t walk without being in pain, couldn’t sit without pain, couldn’t talk to anyone about it and had trouble explaining it even if I wanted to. The urogynecologist I was seeing at the time referred me to Allison and assured me that Allison was the best pelvic floor physical therapist in the city. I was nervous because this was something I wasn’t familiar with, but also desperate for relief from my chronic pain and willing to do anything to help.
During my first appointment with Allison, she explained how my pelvic floor operates, how normal operation is crucial for my body as a whole, and that physical therapy would heal me with time. She told me that I didn’t have to settle for living a life in pain. Over the next six months, I went to Allison once a week in my quest to become pain free. She was a coach and cheerleader, always available, always open, and always my biggest advocate. As time passed, my pain became less and less...the 10 became a one, the chronic became infrequent. It’s been a year since my last appointment with Allison, and I struggle to remember what that unbearable pain even felt like.
I would recommend Allison to anyone seeking help with pelvic floor physical therapy. There is simply no one better who can understand your pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. Above all else, Allison is fiercely passionate about helping people, and she is genuinely dedicated to seeing her clients get better. I cannot imagine a better professional to work with and I am eternally grateful to Allison for her help.”
